20.09.2023 - Die bundesweiten Notrufnummern 110 und 112 feiern Jubiläum: Seit 50 Jahren gibt es einheitliche Notrufnummern

Heute vor 50 Jahren wurde durch den damaligen Bundeskanzler Willy Brandt und die Ministerpräsidenten der Länder die Einführung der bundesweit einheitlichen Notrufnummern 110 und 112 beschlossen. Zuvor gab es Notrufnummern nur in Großstädten. Wer auf dem Land oder in Kleinstädten in Not war, musste im Telefonbuch nach der nächsten Polizeidienststelle oder einem Krankenhaus suchen.

Für viele hatte das fatale Folgen, wie auch für Björn Steiger. 1969 wurde der Achtjährige von einem Auto angefahren. Der Krankenwagen brauchte fast eine Stunde zum Jungen. Der Junge starb. Seine Eltern Ute und Siegfried Steiger aus dem schwäbischen Winnenden gründeten noch im selben Jahr die Björn-Steiger-Stiftung und wurden zu einer treibenden Kraft für ein besseres Rettungswesen mit einheitlichen Notrufnummern in der Bundesrepublik.

Bundesinnenministerin Nancy Faeser: "Seit 50 Jahren können wir uns auf die rasche Hilfe in der Not durch Einsatzkräfte von Polizei, Feuerwehr und Rettungsdiensten verlassen, wenn wir 110 und 112 wählen. Die Notrufnummern retten Leben.

Zu diesem Jubiläum möchte ich der Björn-Steiger-Stiftung für ihren unermüdlichen Einsatz bei der Verbesserung der Notfallhilfe in Deutschland danken. Aus dem furchtbaren persönlichen Leid nach dem Unfalltod seines Kindes heraus fand das Ehepaar Steiger die Kraft, wichtige Neuerungen wie zentrale Notrufnummern oder den Aufbau der Notruftelefonnetze an deutschen Straßen anzustoßen. Sie haben sich damit wahrlich um Deutschland verdient gemacht."
