Am Samstagmittag, 18.01.25 wurden die Abteilungen Oberderdingen und Großvillars sowie die Drehleiter der Abteilung Flehingen um 13.02 Uhr von der integrierten Leitstelle Karlsruhe zu einem Brandeinsatz in die Mozartstraße in der Kernstadt alarmiert. Von dort wurde ein Kaminbrand mit sichtbarem Flammenaustritt aus einem Wohnhaus gemeldet.

Nach dem Eintreffen der Feuerwehr am Einsatzort ergab die Lageerkundung, dass von außen zwar keine Flammen mehr sichtbar waren, da der Bewohner bereits die Luftzufuhr zur Feuerstelle gestoppt hatte und damit ein weiteres Ausbreiten verhinderte. Im Kamin konnte jedoch ein Brandgeschehen festgestellt werden. Zudem war das Dachgeschoss verraucht. Die Bewohner waren nicht in Gefahr.

Umgehend wurde daher ein Atemschutztrupp mit einem C-Rohr sowie Kleinlöschgerät im Innenangriff bereitgestellt. Der Kamin und die Umgebung im Gebäudeinneren wurden mit der Wärmebildkamera auf verdeckte Brandausbreitungen kontrolliert. Die Kontrolle verlief ohne besondere Feststellungen. Über die Drehleiter wurde der Kamin von außen erkundet. Parallel dazu wurde die Wasserversorgung aus dem Hydrantennetz aufgebaut und sichergestellt. Außerdem wurde zur Entrauchung des Hauses ein Hochdrucklüfter eingesetzt.

Nachdem ein Schornsteinfeger vor Ort war, konnte der Kamin gekehrt und gereinigt werden, so dass der Kamin schließlich wieder frei durchgängig und keine Brandlast mehr vorhanden war. Über die Revisionsöffnungen wurde der Ruß aus dem Kamin entfernt und ins Freie gebracht.

Im Einsatz waren 22 Feuerwehrangehörige der Abteilung Oberderdingen mit dem Löschgruppenfahrzeug LF 16/20, dem Hilfeleistungslöschgruppenfahrzeug HLF 20 und dem Einsatzleitwagen ELW 1 sowie drei Kräfte der Abteilung Flehingen mit der Drehleiter DLAK 23/12. Weitere Feuerwehrangehörige standen in den Feuerwehrhäusern in Bereitstellung.

Der Rettungsdienst des DRK-Kreisverbands Karlsruhe war mit zwei Mitarbeitern und einem Rettungswagen RTW von der Wache Bretten angerückt. Zudem waren drei Helfende der Bereitschaft des DRK-Ortsvereins Oberderdingen mit einem Krankenwagen KTW-4 und einem Mannschaftstransportwagen MTW samt Geräteanhänger an der Einsatzstelle. Die Polizei war mit einer Beamtin und einem Beamten sowie einem Streifenwagen vom Revier Bretten vor Ort. Einsatzende war gegen 15.00 Uhr.
