Mit dem Alarmstichwort „Küchenbrand“ wurden die Abteilungen Oberderdingen und Großvillars sowie die Drehleiter der Abteilung Flehingen am Mittwochabend, 18.12.24 um 19.23 Uhr von der integrierten Leitstelle Karlsruhe in die Flehinger Straße alarmiert.

Nach dem Eintreffen an der Einsatzstelle ergab die Lageerkundung, dass es sich um einen Fettbrand in einem Topf in der Küche einer Wohnung im ersten Obergeschoss eines Mehrfamilienhauses handelte. Das Feuer war jedoch bereits durch die Bewohner mittels Topfdeckel und Pulverfeuerlöscher besonnen gelöscht worden, bevor es auf die weitere Kücheneinrichtung übergreifen konnte. Bei den Löschmaßnahmen verletzte sich eine Bewohnerin leicht und musste vom Rettungsdienst versorgt werden. Die Feuerwehr kontrollierte die Brandstelle mit einem Trupp unter Atemschutz und der Wärmebildkamera und belüftete die Wohnung. Außerdem wurde das Brandgut mit einer Schuttwanne ins Freie gebracht. Nach Abschluss der Einsatztätigkeiten wurde die Wohnung wieder an die Mieter übergeben. Während des Einsatzes musste die Flehinger Straße im betroffenen Abschnitt voll gesperrt werden.

Im Einsatz bzw. in Bereitstellung waren unter der Leitung von Kommandant Thomas Meffle 29 Kräfte der Abteilung Oberderdingen mit dem Löschgruppenfahrzeug LF 16/20 und dem Einsatzleitwagen ELW 1, sechs Kräfte der Abteilung Großvillars mit dem Mittleren Löschfahrzeug MLF sowie drei Feuerwehrangehörige der Abteilung Flehingen mit der Drehleiter DLAK 23/12 (weitere Kräfte waren in Bereitstellung). Vom Rettungsdienst der DRK-Kreisverbände Karlsruhe und Heilbronn waren ein Notarzt, fünf Mitarbeitende und der Organisatorische Leiter Rettungsdienst Serkan Altintas mit einem Notarzteinsatzfahrzeug NEF aus Eppingen, zwei Rettungswagen RTW der Wachen Oberderdingen und Bretten und ein Kommandowagen KdoW angerückt. Die Bereitschaft des DRK-Ortsvereins Oberderdingen war mit drei Helfern, dem Krankenwagen KTW-4 und dem Mannschaftstransportwagen MTW samt Geräteanhänger an der Einsatzstelle. Die Polizei war mit vier Beamt*innen und zwei Streifenwagen vom Revier Bretten vor Ort. Einsatzende war gegen 20.50 Uhr.
