Das MLF der Abteilung Großvillars dient vornehmlich zur Brandbekämpfung, zur Förderung von Wasser und zur Durchführung technischer Hilfeleistungen kleineren Umfangs. Es bildet mit seiner zur Löschgruppe ergänzten Besatzung eine selbstständige taktische Einheit. Die Besatzung besteht aus einer Staffel (1/5). Das MLF führt die Beladung für eine Löschgruppe (1/8) mit und ist das Erstangriffsfahrzeug der Abteilung Großvillars.

 

Das Mittlere Löschfahrzeug schließt technisch die Lücke zwischen einem Tragkraftspritzenfahrzeug-Wasser TSF-W und einem Löschgruppenfahrzeug LF 10, hat einen eingebauten Löschwasserbehälter, eine vom Fahrzeugmotor angetriebene Feuerlöschkreiselpumpe FPN 10-2000 sowie eine Einrichtung zur schnellen Wasserabgabe.

 

Das MLF der Abteilung Großvillars ersetzte ein LF 8 aus dem Jahr 1985 welches von 1985 bis Juli 2002 bei der Abt. Oberderdingen im Dienst stand und dann von der Abt. Großvillars übernommen wurde. Das MLF wurde zusammen mit dem baugleichen MLF der Abteilung Flehingen beschafft und am 02. Oktober 2022 in Dienst gestellt.
